Wabash, IN : Off-duty officer killed in crash with school bus on Indiana 15 a few miles south of the city of Wabash on Monday, November 17, 2014

Authorities say an off-duty police officer was killed when his SUV went out of control on a northern Indiana highway and slid into the path of a school bus loaded with children. State police Sgt. Tony Slocum says none of the 39 children on the Wabash County schools bus needed hospital treatment after Monday's crash on Indiana 15 a few miles south of the city of Wabash. Slocum says 39-year-old North Manchester Officer David Rigney was driving his personal SUV when it apparently hit a slick spot on the highway and fishtailed. The SUV crossed into the bus' path and was hit at the driver's side door. The SUV was also hit by a car. Rigney was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other drivers weren't injured.
