SARASOTA COUNTY, FL : Moped rider dies in Bee Ridge Road crash on Tuesday, 25th September 2018

A moped rider died and a driver was hurt in a crash on Bee Ridge Road on Tuesday night, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

According to the FHP, Elizabeth Sauceda, 24, of Sarasota was driving a Hyundai Sonata west on Bee Ridge Road at Radnor Place at about 8 p.m. Brian Kurt Bettis, 59, of Sarasota was riding an Acura 150CC east on Bee Ridge Road when he made a left turn onto Radnor Place, into the path of the Hyundai.

The two vehicles collided. Bettis, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Sauceda, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
