New York, NY : Former Brown professor dies in Chelsea cycling accident on Tuesday, December, 5th 2017

A former Brown University professor and real estate developer has died after crashing into a car while biking through Chelsea, police said Tuesday.

Josef Mittlemann, 67, was pedaling south along 11th Ave. when he blew a red light and entered the intersection at W. 30th St. about 1:45 p.m. cops said.

He struck the passing Toyota Prius and suffered a massive head injury, police said. Medics rushed him to Bellevue Hospital, where he died the next day.

No charges were filed against the 39-year-old man driving the Prius, who remained at the scene.
