Omaha, NE : A motorist died after a crash with a semitrailer truck on April, Monday 17th 2017
A motorist died Monday morning after a crash with a semitrailer truck on the northwest edge of Omaha.
The semi, driven by a Blair man, was southbound on Blair High Road about 7:10 a.m. when it collided with a Toyota Prius driven by a Council Bluffs woman in her late 50s, Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputy Jim Maguire said. The Prius was northbound on Blair High Road, turning west onto State Street.
“She pulled in front of the semi,” Maguire said. “We have six or seven witnesses who saw the accident.”
The Prius driver was taken in extremely critical condition to the Nebraska Medical Center, with CPR in progress. She died at the hospital. The semi driver suffered minor injuries, Maguire said.
The semi struck the car and then a utility pole on the southwest corner of the intersection, the Sheriff’s Office said. The car ended up in a ditch.
Both drivers were alone in their vehicles, Maguire said.
The Nebraska State Patrol assisted at the crash scene with traffic control. One southbound lane of Blair High Road and all of State Street, both east and west of Blair High Road, were blocked.
The name of the driver who died will be released after relatives have been contacted, the Sheriff’s Office said.
