HEBER CITY, UT : Man hurt in crash in Utah ravine climbs out despite injury on Sunday, 16th October 2016
A man whose car rolled down a 40-foot ravine in Wasatch County managed to climb out to get help despite serious injuries.
Utah Highway Patrol officials say the crash occurred Sunday around 2 a.m. on U.S. 40 near Strawberry Reservoir.
According to authorities, a pedestrian who noticed the truck in the ravine a few hours later flagged down a driver for help.
But both left the scene before emergency responders arrived.
So, troopers and medical responders spent two hours trying to find the crash scene before the 41-year-old driver surfaced and flagged down a driver himself.
Troopers say the man suffered injuries to his legs and back.
He was airlifted to a hospital.
Utah Highway Patrol trooper Lawrence Hopper says investigators believe fatigue contributed to the crash.
