LAS VEGAS, NV ; 64-year-old pedestrian hit and killed near Sahara Avenue, Valley View Boulevard on Friday, 2nd August 2024

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a deadly crash in the central valley involving a pedestrian.

On Friday, at about 10:45 p.m., LVMPD responded to a crash involving a pedestrian on West Sahara Avenue east of South Valley View Boulevard.

According to investigators, a Lexus was traveling westbound on Sahara Avenue, east of Valley View Boulevard, when a pedestrian in a motorized wheelchair crossed Sahara Avenue east of Valley View Boulevard outside of a marked or implied crosswalk.

Police said the crash happened when the pedestrian crossed the path of the approaching Lexus. The front right of the Lexus hit the right side of the pedestrian, redirecting him to the roadway.

The Lexus came to a controlled stop west of the crash.
