Gastonia man dies in early morning traffic crash in Georgia

WBTVGastonia Police are investigating an early morning traffic accident that killed a Gastonia man. The accident occurred at 5:51 a.m. at the intersection of Bessemer City Road and Oates Road, according to a news release from the Gastonia Police Department.Shelia Brown, 56, of Dallas, was on her way to work, driving a 2002 Kia Sportage.She was traveling south on Bessemer City Road and was slowing in the middle turning lane when she struck a pedestrian, Carl William Hudson, 61, of Gastonia.Mr. Hudson was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center where he died in the emergency room from injuries. Mr. Hudson had walked to a convenience store and was on his way home when the accident occurred. Ms. Brown said she did not see him.
