HONOLULU, HI : 19-year-old motorcyclist dies following Maui crash on Sunday, 21st January 2024

The Maui Police Department said a 19-year-old motorcyclist has died following a crash late Sunday night on Haleakala Highway.

Officials said it happened just before 11:10 p.m. west of Keahua Road when a white sedan driven by a 24-year-old woman rear-ended a red Kawasaki KX125 off-road motorcycle.

Police said the collision caused the teen to be ejected onto the roadway while the sedan continued east until it hit a guardrail.

Investigators said the 19-year-old from Haiku was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
