A North Carolina State Trooper was involved in a crash in east Charlotte early Thursday morning.

It happened around 3 a.m. on East Independence Boulevard near Briar Creek Road.

Officials say the trooper hit a retaining wall while responding to a call for a high-speed chase. Troopers were involved in a car chase that started around Billy Graham Parkway. They stopped pursuit around I-77 and Lasalle Street and have made no arrests.

The trooper was taken to the hospital for evaluation and is expected to be OK.
