Sacramento, CA : A driver died in a fiery crash on Monday, October, 23rd 2017
A driver died in a fiery crash early Monday morning after the vehicle struck a tree north of Auburn.
The California Highway Patrol responded at 2:38 a.m. to a report of a car fire on Bowman Road, south of Dry Creek Road. Cal Fire units were the first to arrive at the scene and discovered that the vehicle had crashed into a tree, according to a CHP news release.
The vehicle, a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix registered out of West Sacramento, was northbound on Bowman Road when the driver apparently failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle continued straight through the curve, left the roadway and hit the tree, the news release said. The crash caused the vehicle and surrounding grassy area to catch fire.
The driver, the only occupant, was found inside the vehicle, burned beyond recognition, the CHP reported.
