A boy was killed and a woman was seriously in an ATV crash in Canaveral Groves.
The crash happened shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Cangro Street, near Osprey Avenue.
Christine Chmiel, 42, and Hunter Richard, 7, both of Cocoa, were riding an ATV on a dirt road, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
When they approached the end of the road, Chmiel tried to turn the vehicle, but she lost control of it, which caused it to overturn onto the child, the report stated.
Neither Chmiel nor Richard was wearing a helmet while riding the vehicle, officials said.
Both the woman and the boy were flown by helicopter to Orlando Regional Medical Center, a Brevard County Fire Rescue spokeswoman said.
The boy died at the hospital.
Charges are pending, officials said.
