Levy County, FL : One person killed, three injured in multiple-car crash on U.S. 19 in Levy County on Thursday morning, February 12, 2015
A Chiefland man was killed and three others seriously injured early Thursday morning in Levy County.
Deshawn Roland, 20, was killed, according to a Florida Highway Patrol media release. He was a passenger in one of the two cars involved.
The accident occurred at 1:35 a.m. on U.S. 19 just north of Southeast Ninth Avenue.
Reginald V. Adams, 30, of Chiefland, was driving a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria south on U.S. 19, according to the FHP. Also driving south was an unidentified motorist in a 2006 Nissan Titan.
For unknown reasons both cars crossed the center median, which has a raised concrete curb. Adams hit a palm tree with his car's right side but continued to travel, the release states.
At some point the left front of the Titan hit the left side of the the Ford. Both vehicles ended up in a gas station store parking lot.
FHP reported that the driver of the Titan ran from the scene.
Adams and a second passenger in the Ford, Stephina M. Peterson, 31, of Chiefland, were taken to UF Health Shands Hospital in serious condition.
A passenger in the Titan, Nikki L. Reppert, 31, of Chiefland, was also taken to Shands in serious condition, the FHP reported.
Charges are pending an FHP investigation.
