A motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene of a crash near Culbertson on Thursday.

A van veered into the opposing lane on U.S. Highway 2, crashing into the oncoming motorcycle, according to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Noah Pesola.

MHP received the report of the crash, just west of Culbertson, at about 2 p.m.

The driver of the van was taken to a nearby medical facility, but the injuries were not life-threatening, Pesola said.

Officials are still investigating whether alcohol, speed or drugs were factors, Pesola said.
