Clarksville, TN : Montgomery County deputy involved in a head-on collision on Ashland City Road on Tuesday night, April 26, 2016

A Montgomery County deputy was involved in a head-on collision in Clarksville on the way home from work on Tuesday night.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a Ford Explorer and a Volvo collided head-on when one of the vehicles went into oncoming traffic on Ashland City Road around 9 p.m.

Deputy Geoff Blanchard, 51, was pinned inside his vehicle for nearly an hour. He is in stable condition.

The driver of the Volvo, 25-year-old Kayla King, was ejected through the passenger's side door and landed in a ditch. She was reportedly not wearing a seat belt.

King had two passengers in her car - an adult male and a 1-year-old. They were also injured.

"Dealing with a serious accident like this is never easy. All we can do at this point is to keep Geoff and the occupants of the second vehicle as well as their families, in our prayers," said Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson in a news release.

THP is investigating the cause of the crash. It is not clear which driver is at fault.

Ashland City Road was shut down for several hours but reopened around 5 a.m.
