One person was killed and four others, including a 9-year-old boy, were injured after a police chase ended in a crash on Courville Street near Outer Drive.
Local 4 cameras were rolling as firefighters rescued a man from the mangled car wrapped around a tree. It started on Warren near Outer Drive, when the driver of a white sedan blew through two red lights.
"The officer turned on red lights," said Assistant Chief Steve Dolunt. "The car wouldn't stop. He went 56 blocks to Corbille'.
Dolunt said the officers never went over 53 mph, while the driver of the white car used excessive speed.
"(It) went to pass another vehicle (and) lost control," Dolunt said. "It's rainy out. He hit a bump, struck a tree. (The) car split in two."
Five people were inside the car, including a 9-year-old boy. Investigators told Local 4 the boy is in serious condition. The driver is in critical condition and two men, 18 and 19 years old, are in serious
