Flint, MI : Two motorists were injured in a head-on crash at Portsmouth Township On Monday, May 16th, 2016

Two motorists were hospitalized following a head-on crash in Portsmouth Township.

About 11:30 p.m. Monday, May 16, Bay County sheriff's deputies responded to a crash on River Road at McGraw Road near James Clements Municipal Airport. They arrived to find a blue Toyota Camry and a silver Pontiac sedan having collided

head-on, according to Undersheriff Troy Cunningham.

The Toyota was traveling north on River Road (M-13) when it crossed the center line into the path of the Pontiac, Cunningham said. Both cars were totaled in the wreck, Cunningham added.

The Camry was driven by Nicholas Cook of Essexville, approximate age 21. The Pontiac was driven by Danielle Chesney of Saginaw, approximate age 25. They were both transported to Saginaw hospitals for treatment.

Cook suffered injuries to his legs and Chesney suffered a broken right lower leg and two broken feet, Cunningham said.

Both Cook and Chesney were wearing their seat belts. Deputies do not believe alcohol was a factor and they are continuing their investigation into what caused Cook to veer into Chesney's path, Cunningham said.

Deputies were assisted by McLaren Bay Region ambulance and the Bay City Department of Public Safety.

River Road was closed to traffic for almost four hours.
