Horry County, SC : One person is dead after a fatal vehicle crash on U.S. 501 southbound near Carolina Forest on Monday, June 22, 2015

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is reporting a fatal wreck near Carolina Forest.

The wreck happened at 11:59 a.m. on U.S. 501 near the Dunkin Donuts.

One person died in the crash, according to Brian VanAernem with Horry County Fire Rescue.

A 2000 GMC Sport Utility and a 2012 Honda Sport Utility were traveling south on U.S. 501 when the driver of the GMC attempted to change lanes and hit the rear of the Honda. This caused the GMC to overturn and the driver was ejected, according to Cpl. Sonny Collins, with South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The driver of the GMC was not wearing a seatbelt.

No charges are expected to be filed at this time, Collins said.

Southbound lanes were closed on U.S. 501 for at least 2 hours, VanAernem said.
