Topeka, KS : I-70 crash stalls traffic near downtown Topeka on Sunday, 20th May 2018
A two-vehicle accident late Sunday afternoon backed up traffic traveling east on Interstate 70 near the S.E. Adams Street.
The crash was reported at 4:38 p.m. and Topeka Police arrived on the scene shortly after. It is unknown the exact cause of the crash, which happened just east of the exit. No one involved had life-threatening injuries.
Topeka police officer Gary Schwinn said at the scene the crash had caused a “big traffic hazard,” prompting them to close the on-ramp to east I-70 off of Adams Street for about 20 minutes. Both vehicles involved were towed.
One person involved in the crash reported to having minor injuries, but was not taken to the hospital, Schwinn said.
Police opened the on-ramp around 5:20 p.m.
