Town of Westpoint, WI : One person killed in semitrailer vs. car crash on Highway 60 near Gannon Road on Friday, April 1, 2016
One person was killed in a head-on crash involving a car and semitrailer, according to a release from the Columbia County Sheriff’s office.
Deputies were called at 9:30 a.m. Friday to Highway 60 near Gannon Road in the town of WestPoint on a report of a head-on crash with a person trapped in the car.
The driver of the car was extricated, flown to UW Hospital in Madison and pronounced dead at the hospital.
The semi driver was not injured.
The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family.
The crash remains under investigation by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
Highway 60 was completely blocked and shut down for approximately two hours.
Lodi Fire, Lodi emergency medical services, the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Lodi Police Department, Sauk Prairie Fire, Med Flight and the Columbia County Medical Examiner’s Office assisted at the scene.
