Lindsay, NE : Two people seriously injured in ATV accident in southwestern Madison County on Tuesday, May 24, 2016
Two people were seriously injured Tuesday as the result of a traffic accident involving an all-terrain vehicle north of Lindsay.
Vern Hjorth, Madison County sheriff, said the accident occurred about 7:20 p.m. on a minimum maintenance road six miles north and two-thirds of a mile east of Lindsay.
Two vehicles were involved, Hjorth said, with both heading westbound. The four-wheeler ATV was in the lead.
At the top of a hill, the driver of the four-wheeler turned around and subsequently collided head on with the pickup driven by Preston Bussey of Battle Creek.
Injured was the driver of the four-wheeler — 20-year-old Trevor Herchenbach of Lindsay — who was flown by medical helicopter to an Omaha hospital. The passenger, 16-year-old Cheyenne Eden of Lindsay, also was injured and was flown to a hospital in Sioux City.
No additional information about the extent of the injuries was available as of Wednesday morning, Hjorth said.
