Rockvale, CO : A Florence man died in a two-vehicle accident at Rockvale On Monday, April 25th, 2016
A Florence man died Monday night after a two-vehicle accident just after 9 p.m. Monday in Rockvale.
Fremont County Coroner Randy Keller said Rodley Cornell, 22, died on scene when a vehicle traveling in the area struck a parked vehicle.
Colorado State Patrol was on scene until after 2 a.m. conducting the accident investigation. Keller said Cornell's body will be sent to El Paso County for autopsy.
According to a press release from the Fremont County Sheriff's Office, a 2001 Ford Taurus and a 1999 Dodge truck collided in the 1100 block of Churchill.
Deputies reported passengers in the Ford Taurus and one pedestrian were injured and needed medical treatment.
Cornell, a passenger in the Ford Taurus, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other occupants of the Ford Taurus and the pedestrian were transported to St. Thomas More Hospital with serious injuries.
According to the press release, the Ford Taurus was traveling southbound on Churchill when it struck the 1999 Dodge truck that was parked unoccupied.
Deputies with assistance from Florence Police Department and Colorado State Patrol had the 1100 block of Churchill in Rockvale closed for hours during the crash investigation.
The investigation is ongoing.
