Winn Parish, LA : Montgomery man killed in Winn Parish car accident on US Hwy 71, near the Winn and Grant Parish line Early Sunday morning, April 9, 2017

Early Sunday morning, a car crash in Winn Parish killed Dewayne J. Lambert, 26, of Montgomery, Louisiana.

Troopers responded to the crash around 6:00 a.m. on US Hwy 71, near the Winn and Grant Parish line.

The crash involved a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Lambert. He was going northbound on the highway at a high rate of speed, when he lost control and exited the left side of the roadway. His vehicle then collided with a tree.

Lambert was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
