A 7-year-old was among six people injured in a two-car crash in Chelmsford Thursday afternoon, police said.

The crash occurred about 2:14 p.m. when a teenage driver in a blue 2001 Ford Focus apparently crossed a double yellow line and hit a gray 2012 Ford Focus head-on near the intersection of North Road and Technology Drive, police said.

Six people were transported to local hospitals, three to Lowell General Hospital's main campus and three to Lowell General Hospital Saints Campus. There were three people in each vehicle.

One of those victims, a 7-year-old, suffered internal injuries and was subsequently transported by MedFlight to Boston Children's Hospital. The child was sitting in the back seat of the car that was struck, police said

The 19-year-old driver, a Chelmsford resident, has not been named. Charges of operating to endanger, operating without a license, marked-lanes violation and speeding are expected to be forthcoming, police said. More charges could be possible as the investigation continues, police said.

The crash is being investigated by Massachusetts State Police and Chelmsford police and an accident reconstruction team was on the scene. Both vehicles will be towed to the Chelmsford Police Department for further investigation.
