Crawfordsville IN : 16-year-old Brownsville girl injuries after two cars crash on Wednesday July 2nd 2014.
A 16-year-old Brownsville girl suffered life-threatening injuries after two cars crashed head-on on Highway 228 in the Crawfordsville area at about 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Angela Rushford was in critical condition at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland on Thursday, said hospital staff.
She was a passenger in a 1998 Ford Taurus driven by Tanisha McIntyre, 23, of Brownsville.
Investigators believe McIntyre was travelling eastbound at a high rate of speed, and tried to pass two vehicles at once on the rural highway.
Instead, McIntyre smashed into an oncoming Hyundai driven by Shannon Larsen, 43, of Sweet Home, according to Oregon State Police reports.
The case remains under investigation, and no citations have been issued.
Rushford was taken by REACH air ambulance to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield, then transported to Doernbecher for surgery.
