Oklahoma City, OK: Fatal crash reported on I-40 at S Meridian Avenue in west Oklahoma City on Monday 29th October 2018

Loose dual wheels that broke off a tractor-trailer along Interstate 40 early Monday struck a pickup, and the driver was killed in west Oklahoma City, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol spokesman reported.

The dual wheels damaged at least two other vehicles and caused another vehicle to overturn near S MacArthur Boulevard and S Meridian Avenue in west Oklahoma City.

About 4:50 a.m., the wheel set came off of a moving commercial vehicle along I-40 between S MacArthur Boulevard and S Meridian Avenue, said patrol Capt. Ronnie Hampton.

A car apparently struck by the wheels was found west of S MacArthur in the eastbound I-40 lanes, Hampton said.
