Cheshire, MA : Two people injured in a head-on collision on Route 8 Wednesday morning, July 13, 2016
A morning head-on collision on Route 8 sent two people to the hospital with injuries and led to a brief highway closure.
The crash occurred at 6:50 a.m. in front of the former Country Charm restaurant, Massachusetts State Police said.
Melanie Lutz of Union Street, North Adams and Trevor Leja of Water Street, Adams were taken by Adams Ambulance Service to the Berkshire Medical Center, police said.
According to police, Lutz was driving a 2016 Hyundai Accent and Leja was driving a 1999 Ford F150 pickup when the vehicles collided.
An investigation is ongoing and some details, such as directions of travel, were not immediately available. No charges have been filed as of press time.
The road was closed for about 25 minutes and was reopened at about 7:40 a.m., police said.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
