Davis, CA : Two youths arrested for pursuit, crash on Tuesday, December 27th 2016

Two juvenile suspects are in custody following a pursuit from Woodland to Winters that ended with a crash into a building, according to the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office.

Sgt. Matt Davis said the incident began at about 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, when sheriff’s deputies were alerted to a disturbance outside the Juvenile Hall recreation yard on East Gibson Road. A vehicle was spotted in the area but failed to yield to a traffic stop.

“The suspect vehicle continued through Woodland at relatively slow speeds, with deputies in pursuit, before heading south into unincorporated Yolo County,” Davis said. “The occupants of the suspect vehicle switched places in the car between Woodland and Davis before the pursuit reached speeds of 100 miles per hour.”

As the chase approached the town of Winters, a police sergeant deployed a spike strip in the road, which caused the driver to eventually lose control and crash into a house, Davis said. Both occupants of the car, ages 15 and 16, fled on foot but were arrested at about 1 p.m. Tuesday at a home in the 500 block of California Street in Woodland.

No injuries were reported. The activity outside Juvenile Hall remains under investigation, although all of the facility’s detainees have been accounted for, Davis said.

The Davis, Winters and Woodland police departments, California Highway Patrol and Solano County Sheriff’s Office also assisted during the incident.
