One person died and another was injured Friday morning in a head-on crash involving an off-duty Houston police officer in Fort Bend County.
The two-vehicle wreck happened about 6:30 a.m. on Beechnut near Westmoor, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.

One person died and another was injured Friday morning in a head-on crash involving an off-duty Houston police officer in Fort Bend County.
The two-vehicle wreck happened about 6:30 a.m. on Beechnut near Westmoor, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.
An off-duty officer with the Houston Police Department was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe when he collided with a Chevrolet Corvette.
The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office identified the Corvette driver as Brian Manring, 36, of the Richmond area. The off-duty officer has not been identified.
Deputies said when they detected the presence of alcohol on the off-duty officer, they asked him to take field sobriety tests, but he refused. Then a warrant was obtained and the officer was taken to Memorial Hermann – Katy hospital for a blood draw as well as for treatment for his minor injuries.
