Silver Lake, IN : 2 children die in Kosciusko grain-trailer accident in the 5300 west block of County Road 1350 North on Tuesday, 19th November, 2019

Two young children were killed this afternoon when they were struck by a grain trailer on private property, the Kosciusko County sheriff's department said tonight.

Emergency responders were sent to an address in the 5300 west block of County Road 1350 North about 1:45 p.m. on a report of two children possibly struck by a truck.

Police said their preliminary investigation found the tractor-trailer driven by Benjamin Tyler Sheets, 26, of Nappanee began to pull forward after it was loaded with grain.

As the vehicle went into motion, police said, two children ages 3 and 5, who were not identified, were struck and died at the scene.
