Dresden, TN : Annette Newsom, 37, died in a freak accident in Weakley County on Tuesday afternoon, Nov 17, 2015

A Dresden, Tenn. woman was killed in a freak accident Tuesday afternoon in Weakley County.

Sgt. Mike Ford with the Tennessee State Highway Patrol says Annette Newsom, 37, of Dresden was driving a Cadillac Escalade south on State Route 217 when high winds blew a tree onto her car around 2:30 p.m.

Newsom taken to a hospital in Martin, Tenn. where she was pronounced dead.

The road was closed for a time while emergency crews responded to the scene.
