Denham Springs, LA : Three people dead hit-and-run crash in New Year's Event on Thursday December 31 2015.

Neighbors in a small community dealing with tragedy decided to talk about the head-on collision that left three people dead on New Year's Eve.
Louisiana State Police reported Shannon Chisholm, 37, of Denham Springs, and her daughter, Hannah, 11, were the victims killed in one of the vehicles. Troopers added Trinity Kiger, 24, of Satsuma, was the third victim who died. He was driving the second vehicle involved in the crash. Chisholm's husband, Ronald, 38, and their other daughter, a 14-year-old, suffered moderate injuries in the crash.
Herbert Bond, 86, has lived on Burgess Road in Denham Springs for 38 years. The Navy veteran has seen a lot, but for the first time, he's experiencing a neighborhood tragedy.
A guy from the back came and told me, 'Have you heard" Bond said. "And that's the first time my wife and I knew what had happened last night. Just shocked."
Bond lives next door to the Chisholm family.
I talked to them over the fence since they've been here. They seemed like nice people," Bond added.
Investigators said Ronald Chisholm was driving southbound on Walker South Road (LA 447) near Joe May Road in Walker in a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer around 8:15 p.m., while Kiger was headed northbound in the same area at the same time in a 2004 Mazda 6. According to Sandifer, the car crossed the center line in a curve and hit the SUV head-on.
Very unfortunate incident in Livingston Parish last night," Sandifer said. "It was a two-vehicle crash that actually resulted in three fatalities."
For the families, all these holidays now will be marked by that," said Beverly Krozier, a neighbor of Kiger.
Troopers added it has not yet been determined whether Kiger was impaired at the time. They reported it is unknown what caused the car he was driving to cross the center line. Sandifer said investigators reported they do not suspect Robert Chisholm was impaired. Blood samples were taken from both drivers and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
One of Kiger's other neighbors, who did not want to be identified publicly, said Kiger was working for a plumber and was a student at Baton Rouge Community College.
The crash marked the second deadly accident in a month on that particular stretch of Walker South Road. A wreck the first week of December took the lives of two people.
It's a really bad intersection," said Joseph Tuttle, who lives off Walker South Road. "There isn't a day that goes by that we don't see an accident or a near miss. People drive dangerously on this road."
Tuttle added he doesn't think the speed limit is the problem. He blames the drivers. Troopers agree that the drivers are at fault.
For the most part, roadway conditions do not cause fatal crashes. The vast majority of fatal crashes are actually caused by driver error," Sandifer explained.
Officials said Robert Chisholm and his teenage daughter are expected to recover from their injuries.
