Oklahoma City, OK : Teen allegedly involved in hit-and-run Friday night in Oklahoma City on June 6, 2014
A 10-year-old is recovering after police say he was the victim of a hit-and-run Friday night in Oklahoma City.
Police arrested a 17-year-old in connection with the crime.
According to witnesses, the boy was with his mother crossing the street in the 1100 block of NW 96th Street around 10 p.m. when he was hit.
“It happened in seconds. The car came out of nowhere. He just hit him and took off.”
According to police reports, the victim’s family got in an SUV and tried to track down the vehicle.
Another witness reported hearing gunfire during the chase.
The silver Chevy Cavalier identified by witnesses eventually crashed in a ditch along Northwest 115th and Florida. The driver ran but was eventually traced to a home in the 11000 block of North McKinley.
Three people were arrested, including a 17-year-old, who was found hiding behind a bush.
Police searched the nearby property for a gun. It's unclear if a firearm was recovered.
The teen arrested has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
