CLAIRDON TOWNSHIP, OH : A two-car crash in Chardon Township killed two teenagers on May, Wednesday, 24th 2017
A two-car crash in Chardon Township killed two teenagers on Wednesday night.
At around 4:30 p.m., a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Myka Gray, 18, of Perry, and her passenger Kayleigh O'Brien, 19, of Perry, were heading south on Aquilla Road, when it failed to stop at the stop sign at US 322.
A 2012 GMC Acadia driven by Pamela Wadsworth, 35, of Chardon was traveling with her 6-year-old son when her car struck the driver's door of the Cobalt.
Passengers of both vehicles were taken to University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center. The driver and the passenger of the Cobalt were pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver and the passenger of the Acadia sustained minor injuries.
All occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
Gray and O'Brien both graduated from Perry High School in 2016. According to a GoFundMe page, Gray had just finished her first year at Kent State University studying education for children with special needs. O'Brien "loved being around her friends, teachers, and family."
A team of counselors will be available Thursday in the office at the high school.
