Greer, SC : 24-year-old man killed in a two-vehicle crash in Greer on Saturday morning, January 31, 2015

A Duncan man was killed Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash near Greer, according to the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office.

Xaitao Casper Ly, 24, of Bellweather Drive was pronounced dead at the scene near the intersection of Brockman McClimon Road and Highway 101, where two cars collided around 6 a.m.

Greer Police Lt. Jim Holcombe said witnesses reported Ly was traveling on Brockman McClimon Road when he ran a red light at the intersection of Highway 101 and struck a car coming through the intersection.

Holcombe said the driver of the other vehicle sustained non-life threatening injuries to his head and leg. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Holcombe said it is unknown at this time what caused Ly to run the red light.

The incident is still under investigation, according to a statement from the Coroner’s Office.
