Scottsville, KY : Allen County man dead after crash with tractor-trailer on U.S. 31-E on Thursday afternoon, May 5, 2016

An Allen County man was killed Thursday afternoon when he crossed the center line and collided with a tractor-trailer in Scottsville.

Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green responded to the crash at 4:12 p.m. on U.S. 31-E, just north of the Ky. 100 intersection in Scottsville.

Police said Daniel Lunsford, 37, of Scottsville, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet SUV and was traveling southbound on U.S. 31-E when for an undetermined reason he crossed into the northbound lane into the path of Bruce Gregory, 49, of Westmoreland, Tenn. Police said Gregory, who was driving a 1999 Freightliner tractor-trailer northbound, tried to avoid the collision by pulling to the right side of the roadway but was struck in the driver's side rear axles by the front of the SUV.

Lunsford was pronounced dead at the scene by the Allen County Coroner's Office. Gregory was not injured in the collision, according to a news release from state police.

The investigation is being conducted by Trooper Shae Foley. Foley was assisted on the scene by Sgt. Jeremy Smith, Detective Adam Morgan, KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Roy Murley, the Allen County Sheriff's Department, the Scottsville Police Department, the Allen County Coroner's Office, the Allen County Rescue Squad, the Scottsville Fire Department and the Allen County EMS.
