Reno, NV : Motorcyclist dies after crashing into ambulance in Reno on Saturday, January, 20th 2018
A motorcyclist died after crashing into an ambulance that was responding to a call while traveling on U.S. 395 late Saturday morning.
The 50-year-old man's identity had not been disclosed as of Sunday morning.
The motorcyclist was heading westbound on North McCarran Boulevard at the highway overpass when it collided at 11:19 a.m. with a REMSA ambulance that was entering the intersection of North McCarran Boulevard and the southbound U.S. 395 off ramp, according to Reno Police.
The ambulance was responding to a call and was traveling with its lights and sirens activated, police reported. The man was immediately transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Reno Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team responded to investigate the crash. The investigation is ongoing at this time, and neither speed or impairment appears to be a factor in the crash. The man's name is not being released pending notification of the family.
