WEST BRIDGEWATER, ME : Single car crash in West Bridgewater on May, Friday 5th 2017
After a car’s fender was splintered and the hood was bent in half, no charges were filed in a single car crash in West Bridgewater that left two people in the hospital on Friday night.
The driver and a passenger were both brought to a local hospital after the crash took place in the area of Wendy’s on West Center St. around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, said West Bridgewater police officer Christopher Packard.
The car struck a utility pole, Packard said, causing extensive damage to the front end of the Toyota Camry.
No charges were filed against the man driving the car, at least as of late Saturday morning, Packard said.
Passerby helped the driver out of the car, but the man in the passenger seat was trapped until rescue workers were able to free him a few minutes later.
Additional information on the cause of the crash or the identity of the driver was not immediately available on Saturday. Packard referred questions to the chief of the West Bridgewater Police Department, who is not in the office until Monday.
The Camry had a Maine license plate. The car was headed east when it hit the pole on the westbound side of the street opposite the headquarters of Shaw’s Supermarkets.
