Houston County, MN : Teenagers involved in fatal crash in Minnesota's Houston County on Thursday, 17th January 2019

At least one teenager died Thursday afternoon in a one-car crash in Houston County, in Minnesota’s southeastern corner.

According to the State Patrol, a 2002 Mazda Protege was headed north on Hwy. 26 in Crooked Creek Township when the 16-year-old male driver lost control and the car left the road, entered a ditch and struck a tree. Roads were dry at 4:10 p.m., the time of the crash.

The patrol reported that the crash was fatal, but did not specify how many victims there were. It reported that the driver was taken to a nearby hospital, but offered no condition report for him. The patrol also said that a 15-year-old boy from New Albin, Iowa, was a passenger in the car, but offered no further details on him.

The driver was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said, but it appears that the 15-year-old was not.

A second passenger, Tyler Jeffrey Wild, 16, of New Albin, was taken to a hospital with noncritical injuries. Wild was wearing a seat belt.
