Colonie, NY : Man killed in chain-reaction crash on I-87 outside Albany on Wednesday, November 5, 2014

State police say a 72-year-old man has been killed in a chain-reaction crash that snarled morning rush-hour traffic on a suburban Albany highway. Troopers say the accident occurred around 7 a.m. Wednesday on the southbound lanes of Interstate 87, the Adirondack Northway, in the town of Colonie. Police say Angelo J. Delduce Jr. of Latham was standing outside his vehicle, which was stopped on the shoulder for an unknown reason. A collision involving three vehicles occurred near where he was standing, and one of the vehicles hit him. Delduce died at the scene. One of the other three drivers suffered minor injuries. The crash closed two of the three southbound lanes until around noon. Traffic was backed up for about 10 miles while police investigated the crash. The cause remains under investigation.
