Brownsville, TX : Two women were killed in a traffic accident on Wednesday, 14th March 2018

Two women were killed in a traffic accident Wednesday night near the intersection of FM 802 and Old Port Isabel Road, authorities confirmed.

Brownsville Police Department Spokesman J.J. Treviño said the women were struck by a vehicle as they tried to cross the street.

The driver was a 16-year-old male, Treviño said. Charges are not expected to be filed as the 16-year-old had not broken any traffic rules, Treviño said.

Treviño identified the victims as sisters, Ana Maria Santos-Hernandez, 59, and Felipa Santos-Hernandez, 63. The sisters were struck by the vehicle after trying to jaywalk across the street, Treviño said.
