Chicago, IL : Two nuns among three people were dead and two dozen others injured in an 11-vehicle crash on Sunday October 5th 2014
Two nuns were among three people killed and two dozen others injured in an 11-vehicle crash in suburban Chicago.
Oak Lawn police on Monday identified the victims as 86-year-old Sister Jean Stickney and 48-year-old Sister Kab Kyoung Kim, both of the Little Company of Mary Sisters.
Also killed was 81-year-old Edward L. Carthans of Chicago. He was the driver of a westbound pickup truck that crashed Sunday into eastbound vehicles stopped at a traffic light.
Oak Lawn Fire Chief George Sheets called the accident "the most violent" many first responders have seen. He said there were victims "in cars, under cars, it was a pretty chaotic scene."
Police Sgt. Bob Brewer says investigators are trying to determine how fast the truck was going and what happened after the initial impact.
