CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI : CF resident in 1-vehicle crash charged with OWI on Wednesday, 15th August 2018
Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin
A Chippewa Falls man who drove his car into a ditch has been charged with drunken driving.
Mark R. Gannon, 54, 804 Dutchman Drive, was charged in Chippewa County Court with a felony count of fifth-offense drunken driving.
According to the criminal complaint:
Police responded to a report of a one-vehicle crash with an injury at 12:28 p.m. July 14 in the town of Eagle Point. Gannon was found passed out in his vehicle. He had been driving northbound on 182nd Street when he crossed the road and entered the western ditch and stopped in a cornfield.
Gannon claimed he had “coughed so hard that it caused him to pass out.” He failed a roadside sobriety test, and a preliminary breath test showed he had a 0.21 blood alcohol level, more than twice the legal limit.
Gannon was convicted of fourth-offense OWI in 2003, court records show.
