St. Johns County, FL : New York woman dies in wreck on State Road 16 near Interstate 95 on Saturday, 14th March, 2020

One person died after a wreck on State Road 16 near Interstate 95 on Saturday morning.

Jolleen Ford, 42, of Eden, New York, was a passenger on the motorcycle involved in the wreck, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol. Her injuries were fatal.

The driver of the same motorcycle, Shane Bingman, 47, of Eden, was taken to Orange Park Medical Center with serious injuries, according to the report.

The wreck happened around 2:09 a.m. as Bingman drove west on S.R. 16. At the same time, Cara Lenzi, 20, of St. Augustine, was driving a Kia Soul and tried to turn left from an I-95 exit ramp onto eastbound S.R. 16, according to the report.

The motorcycle hit the front of the Kia and went across the median before coming to a stop on its left side.

Bingman and Ford were not wearing helmets.
