Bentonville, AR : 33-year-old Aron Nathaniel Romero struck and killed after motorcycle crash on Southwest Regional Airport Road on Tuesday, March 17, 2015
The vehicle that police believe struck and killed a 33-year-old Centerton man Tuesday was impounded Wednesday after Bentonville police stopped the driver.
Aron Nathaniel Romero, 33, was pronounced dead Tuesday morning at Northwest Medical Center-Bentonville after a traffic accident on Southwest Regional Airport Road near Southwest Sunbrooke Street at 6:55 a.m.
When Romero changed lanes in eastbound traffic, his 2003 Honda XTR motorcycle struck the back of a 2001 Honda Accord driven by Kortney Payton, 18, of Bentonville, according to an Arkansas State Police report. That impact threw Romero into the westbound lane and he was struck by a third vehicle now identified as a dark blue 2006 Buick Lucerne driven by Tommie Prickett, 62, of Springdale.
The driver of the vehicle that struck Romero didn't stop at the time of the accident and continued to drive west.
Bentonville police distributed traffic light photos of the car Tuesday. Prickett was pulled over Wednesday morning during a traffic stop and the car was impounded as part of the continuing investigation, according to a Bentonville Police Department news release.
Evidence will be sent to the state Crime Laboratory in Little Rock and information forwarded to the Benton County Prosecutor's Office for review and possible charges related to leaving the scene of an accident resulting in the injury to, or the death of, any person, a Class D Felony, according to a news release.
