Sullivan County, TN : Kingsport teen dead after car crash on Highway 11W past Reedy Creek Road on Friday, June 17, 2016
A Kingsport teen is dead after a crash on Highway 11W past Reedy Creek Road in Sullivan County.
According to Tennessee Highway Patrol, a car was going southbound on Highway 11W when the driver encountered debris in the roadway. The driver swerved to the left to miss the debris and two left tires went off the road. He then overcorrected to the right and lost control and went off the right side of the road.
The car then went down a small embankment and back up the embankment and rolled several times before coming to rest.
The passenger, 16-year-old Morgan Malcom was ejected from the vehicle and killed. She was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the car was injured, but there is no word on his condition.
Kingsport City Schools issued the following statement: "The entire KCS community shares our thoughts and condolences with Morgan's family and friends on this incredibly difficult day."
