Maryland State Police say a driver was killed when a deer struck by another car became airborne and crashed through her windshield.
It happened about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on Nanticoke Road near Wells Road in Salisbury. Troopers say 67-year-old Peggy Lee Dickerson of Tyaskin was driving west on Nanticoke Road when her vehicle hit a deer that had entered the road.
Police say the deer became airborne and hit a car driven by 69-year-old Joyce Varnum Green of Quantico. Authorities say the animal went through the windshield of Green's car, striking her, and was ejected through the rear window.
That Green was pronounced dead at the scene. Dickerson was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
