Panama City, FL : Cottondale man killed a two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 231 on Saturday afternoon, January 17, 2015

Florida Highway Patrol releases an update on a fatal crash Saturday night claiming the life of a Cottondale man.

According to FHP an 18-wheeler drive by 47-year-old Curtis Dale Rice of North Carolina crossed into the path of a Dodge truck as it turned left onto the eastbound I-10 entrance ramp in Jackson County.

The driver of the truck, 59-year-old Alvin McGinty was pronounced dead at the scene.

The wreck closed down north bound lanes of traffic for several hours Saturday night.

Drivers were directed to an alternate on ramp as Jackson County Fire Rescue worked to get the scene cleared.

Charges are pending in the case and Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
