HEBRON, NE : Area woman dies in collision on Highway 81 on Saturday, 9th September 2016
A Hebron woman has died of injuries she suffered Saturday evening in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 81, the Thayer County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Loetta J. Krause, 87, died at a Lincoln hospital after being transferred there by air from Thayer County Health Services in Hebron.
The driver of the other vehicle, 27-year-old Carlos J. Vazquez Cordova of Houston, and his passenger, Elieser Blanco, 38, also of Houston, were taken by ambulance to the Hebron hospital for treatment of injuries.
Saturday’s crash was reported to authorities at 6:24 p.m.
According to a report from the Sheriff’s Office, Krause had been eastbound on Dove Road near Hebron in a 1996 Chrysler sedan. She was crossing U.S. 81 when her vehicle was struck broadside by a northbound, 1998 Mitsubishi sedan driven by the Houston man.
Both vehicles came to rest in the east road ditch. The cars both were classified as a total loss.
Seat belts were in use in both vehicles.
