SWANSEA, MA : A Somerset man was seriously injured in a crash on May, Friday, 19th 2017
A Somerset man was seriously injured Friday night when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck on Bark Street.
At approximately 8:02 p.m., Swansea police responded to a crash involving a Yamaha motorcycle and a white GMC pickup truck in the area 598 Bark St.
The operator of the motorcycle, identified as Abraao Carreiro, 25, of Somerset, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported by Swansea Ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital.
The operator of the pickup, identified as Gregory Kappes, of Bark Street in Swansea, was transported to Saint Anne’s Hospital for evaluation.
The road was closed for a short period of time while officers investigated the crash. The Swansea Police Accident Reconstruction Unit and Detectives were called to the scene to assist Officer Daniel Walsh with the investigation.
At this time, speed appears to be a factor in the crash, according to a press release from the Swansea Police Department. Criminal charges may be forthcoming, the release states.
