Waxhaw,N.C : 14-year-olds crash van into house after police chase early Tuesday, July 12, 2016

The North Carolina Highway Patrol says two 14-year-old boys in a minivan led troopers on a high-speed chase before crashing into a home.

Local media outlets report one of the unidentified teens was driving and made an illegal U-turn early Tuesday. Authorities say a trooper tried to pull the minivan over but it took off, prompting a 13-mile chase at speeds up to 120 mph.

When the teens wouldn’t stop, authorities say, troopers managed to knock the vehicle off the road. The minivan crashed into a house in Waxhaw, about 20 miles southeast of Charlotte.

Nobody was home and the boys weren’t hurt.

WSOC-TV reported the collision left a hole in the side of the house, and knocked the chimney down on the minivan.

“It sounded like metal and tires squealing and stuff before it hit the house, and then all of sudden it sounded like a bomb went off,” James Helms told WSOC.

Police say the boys were turned over to their parents and juvenile justice authorities will determine if the teens face charges.
